Change Does Not Come for Free
If you want a better city, help fund the fight.
Change in Ottawa won’t happen on its own. If we want it, we have to fund it.
Because the people who benefit from the current system are not sitting this election out. They are organized. They are funded. And they are determined to protect what they feel is rightfully theirs.
If we don’t stand up, Ottawa stays exactly as it is.
A recent profile of my campaign in the Ottawa Citizen captured what’s at play. “The big spending decisions are lining up with the priorities of powerful developers, not ordinary residents.”
Right now, City Hall is spending hundreds of millions on Lansdowne, Tewin and a new dump site, with decisions too often made behind closed doors. That’s why there is so little money for roads, transit or whatever it is you care about.
Change is possible
I’m an economist. I’m running to bring discipline, transparency and accountability back to City Hall, so your tax dollars are not treated like a blank cheque for political insiders and powerful developers.
But let’s be clear: this will not happen politely.
Change does not come from within a system that protects the status quo. It comes from outside, by people demanding better.
That’s what this campaign is
We are not backed by the usual political parties. We do not have the establishment’s fundraising machine. We do not have institutional support.
What we have is people. Ordinary residents who are tired of watching their city drift further out of reach.
And that is enough. But only if we act.
Every contribution right now goes directly toward:
printing flyers, t-shirts and posters that get our message in front of more voters
supporting volunteers reach out to people across the city
competing with well-funded political interests defending the status quo.
This campaign is about returning control of Ottawa to the people who live here—not the vested interests who profit from how it is currently run.
If we don’t fund change, the status quo wins by default.
