Other Cities Are Winning. So Can We.
When we find and unleash our people power, to take on their political power.
Status quo not working
Local government has a large impact on your quality of life. Whether you are trying to get a pothole fixed, or call an ambulance, or arrive at your destination on time, you depend on City Hall.
But a lot of people in Ottawa want better than what we are getting from our city. For most of us, the status quo stopped working a long time ago.
Other cities have broken with the past
Other cities have figured out how to break with the status quo. Toronto. Montreal. New York is on the cusp.
Ottawa can too.
That’s what the People’s Summit is all about. It’s about how we the people work together to bring about change. How we build a people power that is strong enough to defeat their political power.
Inspiration and action
November 1st is when we get together to start building our people power. Here’s what you can expect from the Summit:
Inspiring voices from the community telling how local groups have won and what they are working for in 2026
Lessons learned from other cities in how they have won and advanced a more progressive agenda
Municipal election boot camps that show how you can get involved and help achieve the 2026 outcomes you’re looking for
Community exhibitors connecting grassroots initiatives with change makers and community members
Tickets
There is still 4 weeks to go but tickets are selling quickly.
(Sorry we need to charge, but room rentals, AV equipment and food don’t come for free.)
We’re already over half sold out. Get your tickets before they’re gone.
Join our volunteers call tomorrow
We’re looking for a few more volunteers, to make the experience as effortless for participants as possible.
If you would like to help out on Saturday, November 1st, or in advance, send an email to info@betterottawa.ca
Our volunteer team is getting together on a conference call tomorrow — Thursday, 9 October at noon, and you are welcome to join us.

Will there be small discussion groups, a board where we can put up ideas on post-it-notes? Other opportunities for participant in-put? Ways to express our dreams for our capital city and ways we would like to accomplish these within set timelines?
