I've always wondered why Women's hockey and the 67s cannot be accommodated in the prospective arena on LeBreton Flats. The question would then become whether a 5,000-seat entertainment centre fits a need.

The fact that, according to a report, the current North stands could serve us for another 40 years, provided $xM/year be spent on maintenance, is to me also strong evidence that this whole Lansdowne 2.0 scheme is a business scam.

Asked AI for an opinion on the CFL and the Redblacks, plus the transportation issues to/from Lansdowne and whether Ottawa has the potential fan base. Answer: it can be viable, but is highly dependent on the RedBlacks playing well. The difficulty (and time) getting to/from Lansdowne means without a good on-field team, attendance has (and will) drop off quickly. The problem is that lack any City TMP priority on any substantial transportation solutions.

PS: Had seasons tickets (family of 4) in the early redblack years. My daughter was the biggest fan, and no longer wants to go. However she is a regular attendee of the prof women's hockey team and travel is easier as the number of people attending don't overwhelme the public transit like larger concerts and CFL does.

Without substantial upgrades to transportation for potential attendees who live more than 1 km from the general area of Lansdowne, that alone means it is a marginal destination, that become increasingly marginal in the growth projected for the Ottawa region in coming decades.
